The RFM 1:35 M‑50 Sherman Early Pattern is an ideal kit for model builders who enjoy detailed Israeli armored vehicles and iconic post‑war Sherman variants. This kit allows you to build either the Degem Aleph or the Degem Beth, two early versions of the Israeli M‑50, each with its own unique characteristics.
The M‑50 Sherman was an Israeli modernization of the American M4 Sherman, developed in the 1950s to strengthen the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) tank fleet. The original 75 mm gun was replaced with the French CN‑75‑50 75 mm cannon, known from the AMX‑13. This upgrade gave the M‑50 significantly improved anti‑tank capabilities.
The Degem Aleph was the early variant based on older Sherman hulls with VVSS suspension, while the Degem Beth was the improved version equipped with HVSS suspension for better mobility and stability.
The M‑50 played an important role in several conflicts, including the Suez Crisis (1956) and the Six‑Day War (1967). Thanks to these modernizations, the Sherman remained surprisingly effective despite its origins in the Second World War.
