The Uhlans were light cavalry units within the Polish Army and played an important role during the 1939 September Campaign. Although known for their cavalry heritage, they often fought dismounted, using modern weapons and tactics. During the German invasion, Uhlan regiments were deployed for reconnaissance, flank protection and rapid counteractions, showing remarkable courage and adaptability under difficult conditions.
